Steve and Sharon Turner (Y3K & Wilarandy Brahmans), along with their children Alex (Y3K A Brahmans) and Carly (Y3K C Brahmans), are the founders and owner-operators of this family-run Brahman stud enterprise.

With a strong foundation built on integrity and honesty, their mission is to breed world-class Polled Red Brahmans.

What began 50 years ago with a single grey stud Brahman female gifted to Steve by his parents has grown into a legacy-culminating in the equal top-priced red bull at the 2021 Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale (RBWS).

Right from the beginning, naturally quiet temperament has been a major selection criteria. From there it was about getting the rest of the mix right and we can honestly say we are nearly there.

From the very start, a naturally quiet temperament has been a key selection criterion, followed by refining the perfect balance of traits. Now, they can confidently say they are closer than ever to achieving their vision.

Natural Docility

This is vitally important for so many reasons. For one, it just makes mustering and working in the yards easy, safe and enjoyable. More importantly though is its links with meat quality and tenderness and production. Naturally quiet cattle graze better and eat better.

Polled Cattle without Polled Faults

There has been plenty of apprehension in the industry to use polled cattle due to the faults within them. Since integrating polled genetics into our herd we’ve been extremely selective with what we’ve used being mindful to not introduce the typical polled faults into our herd. We feel we’ve been extremely successful to date.

Pedigree Guarantee

This is for peace of mind for us and anyone that purchases our genetics. The importance of this was further highlighted when we DNA tested an IVF calf and his sire and dam were not correct. Human error nearly caused us to keep a bull and use him over his mother and sisters.

Held annually on-property at Y3K Brahmans in Calgoa, Queensland, the Y3K Brahmans Open Day offers a relaxed and informative look into their breeding program, cattle and operation.
